Hi!
My mer-name is Mai'ana meaning flower in Chamorro, the native language of Guam, and I've been into mermaiding for around two years. I am certified with PADI as an advance open water scuba diver and that's really what struck my desire to go more into being a mermaid. I lived on Guam for a while and that's where I call home. In Guam I was blessed to dive around beautiful coral reefs and see a wide variety of sea life including; tropical fish (my favorite being clowns and triggerfish), reef sharks, sea turtles, dolphins, and manta rays to name a few of my favorites.
Right now I switch from living in Arizona to Missouri while attending school and coming home for breaks. I don't have a tail currently as I left my fabric tail to Guam for my friends to use and I didn't know how much time I would have while at school or if I would even have a place to swim with my tail. I haven't started swimming as a mermaid much again since moving to the mainland, but I know I'm really missing clear pacific waters and swimming all weekend long..
Mermaiding has helped me a lot in the strength department. I'm a passionate equestrian and let me tell you, the core muscles used to swim with dolphin kicks definitely have improved my core in horseback riding as well.
I hope to make some mer-friends and further my knowledge of being a mermaid. Thanks for letting me join such a great community. :)
