hi guys! I am wondering if anyone can help me with painting my fabric tail. The tail I have is the blue lagoon suntails one. I ideally want to gradually lighten it up to the waist, additionally i want to add some texture. My goal is to make the tail look more realistic and give the scales a more realistic texture as well as lighten/add shine to the entire tail and further lighten the waist. I had originally wanted an aquamarine/minty green coloured tail but could not find any so went with the lagoon blue and i'm hoping to lighten it up a bit.
I was thinking the lumiere 3d might be the way to go for texture (other suggestions are appreciated) and maybe if I choose a lighter colour of paint than the tail is it will help lighten it. I have no idea how I should lighten the top of the tail however. I feel like bleach would be too destructive. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hey there! So, I tried some lumiere 3D when I was making a tail, and it is not very good for it. It comes off easily and, worse of all, it sticks to itself and will pull itself off the tail. I tried it when I was adding texture to a tail I made for someone and when I went to work on it, the paint stuck to itself (on some fins) and when I pulled them apart, all the paint came off with it.
If you want lumiere paint on a fabric tail, I recommend the pearlescent ones. That is what I use on my tails and if you keep the coats thin and heat treat it properly, they will last a long time. :)

You should check out Pearlescent Turquoise and Halo Blue Gold! They're both beautiful and what you're looking for. One thing, though: on spandex, it seems that the only part of the "halo" that remains is the glitter, so my blue-green paint ended up just being gold glitter! It still looks beautiful, though.

I second the whole colors changing to pure gold on the spandex material. The green spots on my Spotted Tail were more blue in the bottle and turned green, and the purple turned more copper, when they got painted on the fabric:

Thank you so much!
I also found a few threads where people added silicone overtop of their fabric tails. I'm thinking that I actually might do that instead but I'll have to put in a ton more research because I don't know much about silicone :P
