Ok, maybe not the best title. But I am going to start work on my first fabric tail when I get home in about an hour but I am super nervous to cut my monofin to fluke shape. Does it change the propulsion or usability at all? Is it better to add on to the fin to give it the fluke shape rather then cut it down and if so, what do you add on?

this is really just a place holder tail so that I have something to swim with until I can afford a silicone. It doesn't need to look 100% or align with any pre made design.

I have heard you lose a lot of propulsion, especially with the wave and rapid. I was always afraid to cut mine and I wanted a biiiig fluke anyway. There are a few tutorials on extending waves and Rapids but I was always afraid to mess mine up cuz I couldn't afford to break it and have to buy a new one. You can buy pre cut ones on eBay for not too much if you have the $ and are chicken like me. :P If you wanna extend it well...there are some mixed tutorials about it, everything from bolting on plastic sheeting to using gorilla tape.
