Hey everyone if you didn't know, mermaid Venessa (https://www.facebook.com/LouisianaMermaid/?fref=ts) my very good friend is experiencing torrential flooding in her area. She was evacuated from her home just as the water started pouring in, by the national guard. Her husband nearly drowned trying to save a police officer from drowning.
She has been through a significant amount of trauma in the past day or so, and her family as thankfully after many hours found their way to a shelter.
Her whole life has been uprooted, she also has two children. She thankfully has flood insurance but it will take a while to come in. I may start a gofundme soon once we've worked out the details of what she and her family will need. The flooding is still happening, the water has not receded, it's in her home.

Please drop by her page and send her some love. She's totally hurting and out of sorts and in survival mode. I've only shared some of the details she's shared publicly on FB but of course there are other traumatic aspects as well. A few of us have also been quite upset by some comments made by a member of the community that were insensitive to her situation and very upsetting and hurtful to her.
This is the time when merfolk need to band together and support each other. The Red cross/Fema will be involved so if you feel like making donations to that, it helps as well.
But at the very least a kind word can go a long way. Please send some love to her page!!
