I was running around on Amazon debating on buying a sinus saver (yeesh, that price though o.o) when Amazon decided to recommend a $120 waterproof iPod shuffle. I started looking at some of the other waterproof music players and there are so,e for as low as twenty bucks. I was curious if amymer swims with music.

I do. I have a Finis Neptune. I love it. I swim alone most of the time and it helps to fight boredom.
My Neptune works wonderfully. Mind you, you won't get the same audio quality as you get with a good mp3 and ear plugs in air, but you can hear the music very well. It is very easy to work with Windows. It works like a pendrive, but it comes with a special USB cable to charge.

Last I heard, I hadn't heard much good about the waterproof players that require headphones. The headphones don't stay in, and the music isn't very clear. But perhaps they have improved since then.
The ones that conduct the sound through your cheek bones, like the ones from Finis, work great. I had their Swimp3 player (I think it was their first version) and it worked fantastic until one the the wires got a short in it so it would only play on once side (after about 5 years). I would recommend those :) I absolutely loved swimming with mine! With the right playlist it makes mermaiding even more magical!

I've only used the cheap ones, and they are definitely a crapshoot. I had one last over a year (it didn't break but was lost). The other two failed under the crushing pressure of a 4 foot deep pool, shorting out the electronics: one after only about 45 days, and one after 6 months.
As for the earbuds, I've only used the mp3 players with goggles and I had to wrap and tuck the wires under the goggle strap to keep everything in place. If more than a few inches of wire got free, the buds would get loose. Sound quality was decent, but would get muffled if any water got past the buds into my ear.

there seem to be a hell of a lot more of them now! I even saw 3 or 4 variations at best buy.
I'd like one for free diving training. I can do better breath holding when I distract myself. Plus the average song is 2.30 so it's a great goal.

I have never thought about such a possibility.
It sounds great.
I would like to try such a device.
There's some inexpensive underwater MP3 players at Gearbest.com. I mentioned them in a thread a while ago: http://mernetwork.com/index/showthread.php?9672-Inexpensive-Underwater-MP3-Players . My dad bought them for me but I am STILL waiting for him to ship the box (this is my dad. FRUSTRATION INTENSIFIES)
I should be reviewing one soon, though! I'll post a written review here on Mernetwork and I'll be making a video review as well :)

I saw this one few days ago and thought it was hilarious:

It's a speaker though.
