Playing Koi

Hey everyone!
I'm so excited to join this site! I hadn't actually known about it before a few weeks ago!
I work for a company called Colorado Characters where we do a lot of character parties and events. We have a ton of Superheros and Disney princesses and the like, but one of our newest additions have been mermaids! I was super excited when my boss told me that we could make tails that we could actually swim in! I also had absolutely no information or idea even how to. :P
I spent a lot of time looking on the internet for the best ways to get started, which led me here! I've been kinda lurking through threads for the past few weeks gathering info, and along with my boss, we've been starting our tails!
We all chose to make fabric tails since we all have little to no experience and the are SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than a silicone tail :P
My boss owns a Finnis Rapid that I tried on multiple times and we both agreed that I should go a size down so I grabbed the Finnis Wave. The only problem I've run into with that is I feel like it's a bit small? I've been working to stretching out the foot pockets but DANG are they tight! (I have longer but more narrow feet)
We started designing our tails and what fluke styles we wanted and I decided on a Koi! (surprise lol) We began messing around with making a detachable fluke with Worbla. I watched a couple of videos and I'm thinking that may not have been a great idea but i guess we'll see D: I also finished sewing the base of the tail in a bright red fabric that we know wont absolutely die in chlorine water, but that's as far as I've gotten.
I'm SO excited to get better at this and really complete my first tail! I can't wait to get to know everyone in this community! :D38847
