I'm sure I've seen pictures of "The Real Mermaids" (at least that's who I think posted it) about doing a mermaid dunk tank. I can't find the thread now!!! Has anyone done that? If so how are you able to get back up on the platform!?

The Real Mermaids (https://www.facebook.com/therealmermaids/) have a full size tank, just FYI :) Raina (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=th_Xoyldws0) and other mermaids (like these mermaids (http://www.epbot.com/2014/03/a-mermaids-tail.html) and these mermaids (http://moderncolorsblog.blogspot.com/2014/10/ye-olde-blogge-post.html) have done dunk tanks though. Some don't use the platform, as much as just swim around in the dunk part of the tank that has the window in it. Others have used a diving tank (like this one (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtZaxfj1lhU)).

As for getting back up, I think it just depends on the setup of the platform and tank- like how close the platform is to the last rung of the latter or other platform inside the tank, how far the sitting platform is out of the water, etc. Looks like you'd need to be able to lift yourself up out of the water with your arms and maneuver yourself onto the sitting platform. You could ask Raina or Lanai, they've both done the platform dunk tank thing. :)

Ok...I have never seen a scuba tank like that before! That's awesome! Is that the same kind Moon Mermaid uses out in AZ I wonder?

It might have been used for the same purpose originally, but it isn't covered like that one is. Moon didn't give specifics about where she got her tank- I asked her when I was working one of her gigs. She's very protective about her business- which she has every right to, woman has been working her fins off in this profession since 2003! :)

Here's a photo of Moon's tank before setup, it's a lot longer than that other one though- about 40ft long.

I don't think she uses it anymore though, she hardly ever takes ot out and even for PCC's mermaod lagoon she used an inflatable pool decorated instead of the tank. I'm thinking she sold it probably

I know that she has it, she was promoting it not long ago- but it costs a LOT of money and workers to transport in, fill up, empty, and transport out. And it can be a weight issue (if the venue can hold the weight of that much water) and space issue, a possible liability issue. Ex- there was a guy at Paradiso who climbed up, jumped IN THE TANK with me, then jumped out- and he was WAY high on something or multiple things. They had to have a security guard stand next to the tank at all times after that because of potential liability. Some venues just don't want to deal with any potential issues. Also waste management issue- disposing of the water, there are laws/regulations and there are places you have to have permits and pay fees to do that.
Plus it's not even worth it probably unless it's a multi day festival, since it takes a day or so to set up beforehand. So most places don't opt for that unless it's a big festival that want something really awesome. Her lagoon is a lot more popular. Lot easier to set up and tear down, less general issues, etc. Some events will opt for both the lagoon and tank (like at Paradiso).
