Calling all Mermaids/Mermen for a big business pitch in Fredericksburg, VA

Hello all!
I am going to be entering a new business competition and for the pitch I want to exhibit just how many mermaids are out there in the world! In order to do this, I need your help!

Please email me at elkeyrayla@gmail.com the following information and any questions/comments/concerns you've got!

I need:
-videos of you all swimming
-a link to your business page (for advertising you lovely ladies & gentlemen)
-your mermaid/merman name
-a video of you IN your tail waving to the camera, blowing a kiss or just interacting

That would not construe fair use, and she's not going to use it for an editorial purpose, but a commercial one. She'll need releases to use them.

Credit is not enough. I'd advise you to use only materials from mers who contribute, their permissions are implied by contributing. Taking NCMermania materials, despite Dan's offer, may put you in a position of liability, as regards using intellectual property without permission.

^ actually everyone at mermania signed forms giving Dan full rights to the images for any purpose basically... IN addition most of the photos were taken professionally by Dan's wife's photography company.

Full release forms were signed for every person who walked through the door.

That is why CNN was able to take and use and sell so much footage/photos

so while I totally agree with peralie in that you typically need permission, in this instance, photos on the official NC Mermania website can be used with only Dan's permission, legally.

Sirenrayla, I hope you've talked to Dan privately about the nature of your proposal, because even with his permission, if the nature of your business proposal is in conflict with the usage of anyone's image, whose permission was granted by Dan, there still could be issues.

I only planned on using those who contribute by sending in their photographs directly with written consent for their use. I plan on fully citing their work. Again, this will makeup less than a minute of the pitch as this particular portion is ONLY for the purpose of opening up the audience's eyes to just how vast the mermaid community is.
