I usually don't do these, but I really need help you guys. Please donate if you can, every little bit helps! If you can't donate, please share. Read more below.

Yesterday my cat Alena started showing severe respiratory distress- we headed straight to the vet, by the time we got her to the vet she was tinged blue in her gums and even her nose.

She had to be hospitalized. Emergency care is extremely expensive. Right now the fund raiser goal is just what we paid yesterday for the x-rays and down payment on her first night's stay, and she may need to stay another night.

Up until yesterday she was doing marvelously well on her medications. Now they say she the congestive heart failure relapsed- and she could recover just fine if she can get the right treatment.

They say she really needs a feline cardiologist and EKG for her to evaluate what meds and dosages she needs, since her current ones have clearly stopped working well.
They say with the right meds she could live for a long time (She's only 8 years old) we just need more information. We seriously wouldn't be able to afford a cardiologist appointment ($600 for initial appointment with EKG) if we have to pay the emergency fees.

As you all may know, I have many chronic health problems myself and am constantly ill. I haven't been able to have regular job because of it (I'm considered disabled by my doctors) so money is so tight.
I don't typically ask for help from others, but this cat is my life. She is always there for me, giving me unconditional love and support. We have such a strong bond- She is so precious to me, words fail to describe it, she is the world to me.

I just want to be able to do whatever I can for her, but I need help! Please give whatever you can, every little bit helps! Thank you <3

(YouCaring is like GoFundMe, but they don't take any platform fees, where GoFundMe takes 5%.)

After 24 hours they finally were able to take her off oxygen. They didn't estimate it would be nearly that long, they thought 9 hours would be the upper range. They wanted to keep her another night. I called last around 9pm, going to call at midnight and check in and again at 5am before I go to bed.

I'm gathering up a bunch of stuff to sell to help pay for all this. After all it's just stuff. I'll be selling some of my mermaid stuff that people might want, I'll post about that when I get around to it. I'm trying to motivate myself to do stuff but I'm just numb and feel like a sack of bricks.

Alena is back home at last!! After 36 hours in the ER- They had to keep her on oxygen for a total of 26 hours, and they said to sextuple the dosage for one of her medications. We'll be getting her into the cardiologist as soon as we can. But for now, much love and cuddles <3 Her emergency care was over $1k, so if you haven't already, if you can can spare any money, please donate to her fundraiser here:https://www.youcaring.com/mermaid-iona-639166

The radiologist confirmed from her x-rays that was a relapse of the congestive heart failure she was diagnosed with in March (she started showing signs in Feb of this year). She had fluid in her lungs before when she was diagnosed, but once she was on meds she got totally back to normal- up until this. Now she has fluid in her lungs again- her meds need adjusting, but it's clear that they need an EKG to see exactly what her heart is and isn't doing to get her on the right meds and dosages that will work best.

The "attack" she had was brought on by having the fluid in her lungs, then panicking in the car and not being able to breathe. I thought she'd be just fine on a road trip because she did 2 weeks of car travel in June, and was nervous but otherwise completely fine. And we couldn't leave her at home becuase she needs medication daily, and we just moved not long ago, so we didn't now anyone who could cat-sit.

Congestive heart failure sounds really scary, but humans get it too- and with both, more information can give us the knowledge to get her on the right meds to keep it under control. The ER vet said that if we could do that then she could live normally for years to come. That means we need the EKG and cardiologist, which are expensive. But the more of this ER bill we can cover, the more we'll have to cover that. This ER bill really was a huge blow financially.

People ask me how she is with meds- she's such a good kitty! I just say "kitty medicine time!" and if she's not already on the couch, she goes right to the couch and lays down so I can pill her. Such a sweet baby <3
