Sooooo......I am on the 'NC Mermania' group on Facebook and there was a quick discussion on there about flying with tails. Most of which is covered by another couple threads, BUT someone mentioned getting their tail insured with a rider under their homeowners/renters insurance since airline insurance policy's only cover damage done by airlines and not by TSA or Customs officials.

Has anyone successfully done this? Can you explain your experience?

I have a separate jewelry policy along with my renters currently, and would love to add my tail on after I receive it but wanted to know the best way to approach an agent, was there a particular category it was under or how did you accomplish getting it added?

I think it works just the same way you would insure anything you're flying with.

I have insurance for my whole company, and it covers loss and damage of my tail.

I'd just call your insurance agent, explain you're flying, and ask if they have suggestions for a one time coverage! usually not that expensive.

I guess insuring your tail is definitely worth considering, especially given the potential risks during travel. A good first step is to ask your insurance agent if it can be added under a special rider, like your jewelry policy. Some folks have managed this by clearly outlining the tail’s value and specifics. You will probably want to take a look at Ushealth Group reviews (https://ushealth-group.pissedconsumer.com/review.html) to see how they handle unique items in their policies. Just make sure to be specific about the coverage you need when discussing it with your agent.
