How high up does your tail sit?

I'm getting a silicone tail soon, and I'm kind of stressing over where is normal for the tail to sit. I measured to have it sit right on the waist, but I noticed a lot of mers have it below their belly button or sitting a little below the waist. It having it right up to the waist uncommon?

I find it's best to measure higher up because they almost always get pulled down in certain body positions, especially sitting. A lot of mers measure right at their belly button and due to their bums, the tail only comes up to their belly button when they are perfectly straight. The minute they sit, or bend their knees, the tail comes down and you get plum-mer-crack ;)
