Not sure if this is the right place, if there is another thread please let me know as I was unable to find the answers.
1. I'm a freshwater mer that was recently in Punta Cana. In fresh waster it's easy to sit in the sand for photos, scoot into the water and swim. How on earth do you do that while there are waves smacking you in the face and pushing you back to the beach before your out deep enough to rollover and swim?
2. Mermaid hair. I have kind of long hair and it looks great for the start of a shoot or meet and greet. Once it gets wet, it looks pretty flat and not at all pretty. I've seen lots of mermaid crowns but I can't imagine them not tangling terribly and looking even worse. I know some Mers wear wigs, is that the best option?

You stick your hands into the sand and hold on while the water flows in. Then when it goes back out to sea, you let go and let it drag you out. Repeat until you are in deep enough. It works best if you are facing the ocean, belly down, so you can put your head down and let the waves wash over you. Or: work your way in back to the sea, letting the waves hit you in the back.

What Merman Storm said, you just either try and work with the water, or you have to have someone try and carry you out.
As for hair, I just kind of deal with it :P Yes, clips and crowns and general hair stuff is going to get tangled, especially if you have long hair. But it can get tangled in top straps and earrings and necklaces too. Cause.. hair :P
It helps if you know you're going in for an underwater shoot of some kind, you can put conditioner or coconut oil in your hair to make it slick and help lessen the tangle factor. I forgot that one time, and ended up yanking out a big clump of hair trying to get a head dress untangled from my head half way through a shoot. It also just depends on different factors, like how many flips or twists you're doing if you're underwater, and generally what your hair is like with tangling, stuff like that.
Wigs tangle the same or even more than regular hair (the longer the wig, the easier it's gonna tangle, I'll tell you that right now), but depending on the wig fiber texture and quality it might not be as noticeable? I don't have a lot of experience with that at this point. It can be easier to anchor down hair accessories through the wig cap though.
I'm noticing some mermaids only do hair accessories with dry stuff becuase of the tangle factor. I just generally try and avoid seaweed that would be really grabby on hair accessories in general, or if I want to have a even less-fuss accessory I don't include any seaweed at all. It all depends on the person, really!
But in the end, everyone's hair looks flat after it gets wet. To me, it's not really "bad" as much as it is just.. how hair looks when it's wet. Ya know? I hope some of that helped at least a little :P

I'll definitely have to remember to deeply condition before going into the water as opposed to just getting out of the water! Thanks for all the help!!
