So Nymphia's first appearance was scheduled a bit earlier than I thought it would be. I was unexpectedly able to land my first mermaid gig for the Escondido Renaissance Faire's Kiddy Cove as a mermaid. As excited and nervous as I am about getting my first gig. I had a big problem on my hands.

Though I had hoped to have a silicone tail ordered soon to start my business. I didn't have a tail ready to go..... My old Ariel neoprene tail was too worn out to wear. There are some huge rips in the fluke and the paint had already halfway peeled off.

So in spite of that I decided Nymphia would start with a fabric tail, but I had a bit of a budget with this since I'm working on another costume simultaneously with this for Halloween.

I thought I'd share some progress. I'm about halfway finished at this point but it's been a fun project to say the least. The main fabric was a lucky find at Joanns and even though it's Yaya Han Fabric (blegh) I found a way to make it work.

I'm keeping the majority of my fin iridescent. It may look green in pictures but it actually changed colors from green to blue and purple.

It may look a lot like an Ariel tail at the moment but if I do Ariel in a Fabric styled fin, I'll definitely do it in a more teal tone to make it different.
