Greetings Fishes! So...I have been all over the spectrum with tails...I've made my own (several) Alexplus tails in years past, I've purchased from tailmakers who are no longer in business, I've also bought from some notable makers as well, and the one thing I feel like I'm missing in all of the tails I own is that it just doesn't scream ME...Its close, but just not 100 percent me. SO.... I'm starting on a new journey to build not only myself but one for my daughter for our performance group at our show in Muskogee and an couture piece as well for a fashion show in Tulsa, Okla in April. SOOOO...lots of things going on....

So let me tell you where I am at in the design process. Because I'm a siren, I'm going with dark colors and actually, I think I've pretty much settled on Black as my whole tail with maybe some pigment changing spashed through it. Between that and a galaxy theme but more or less very very dark. My daughters tail will be an exact replica of my tail except, well, smaller. I am hoping that I am going to do this as an individual scale method. I've started working on designs for scale shape and I think I'm going to mold and cast these scales. I want something that is going to be unique bc it is my design and that there won't be any other tail that will have the same design. I love merbella and love sirenella and finfolk scales but, my scale design will be very much a creation of my own.

I am going with a different type of silicone instead of SmoothOn DragonSkin. I am going to be purchasing PlatSil and have been playing with a small amount and it looks to be pretty durable, fast cure time and demold time. I'm hoping that if I am able to start mid october, that the two performance tails will be done shortly after Christmas. The Couture piece I'm building is going to be a piece for my daughter for a fashion show but I'm concerned about how to do the silicone over a fabric. I have very specific perameteres that I have to follow and have to use specific materials in the design. I've never put fabric inside of a mold and then poured silicone over it and I'm going to have to play around with it to see if it will work. Basically, I have to take small bags and cut them up into scales and then sew them into a mermaid tail but I want it to be durable and swimable too so thats where the silicone comes in. Definitely going to be a challenge but I can't waiit to start showing you guys my process as soon as I get started. Right now its just in the planning phases.

Stay tuned for more

Everything is sort of rough right now. Lots of scribbles... As soon as I can get something not so elementary looking, I'll post it. It's all conceptual in my head atm.
