Briny Tails

No clue where to begin! So excited and ready to start this journey, and I am thankful to have found this place. Lots of beautiful people with a common hobby, interest, and love. Pleasure to meet all of you...even if I haven't quite figured out yet how to "follow people" I will get there :)
I have been a HUGE fan of mermaids for the longest time. My mom says that when I was young and couldn't even walk yet, I would pull myself up in the play-pin, and just stand there in awe watching The Little Mermaid. Probably had a major influence on my psyche, because growing up I was always drawing them. I now have my own line of mermaid art representing real fish. I love when the real world and fantasy collide in to a beautiful work of art. I'll have a Gallery up shortly with all of the mermaid art. Some paintings for sale as well :)
I have watched through the years the beautiful mermakers like Merbella and Finfolk, as well as photography and video of mermaids from around the world, and always WANTED to make and create that world. Never went for it, though. Let's be honest...it's an expensive hobby! haha
BUT, about two months ago...I could NOT go to sleep. I was suddenly overwhelmed with the desire to start this mermaid process. I had made up my mind that night, I was going to make a mermaid tail. Then I thought...why not...make a few! Let's commit to this and go for it. Lets make mermaid tails for all who want you to make them.
So I've been working for a few months researching, figuring out supplies, what the best way to make molds were...everything! I've had a few fails, but with fails came knowledge for the next attempt. I now have my first fluke, Alara, sculpted and molded. It was one of those beautiful moments where all the time and dedicated money spent had finally come in to a finished product. Need more silicone though...only did one half of the fluke...need to do another.
I am about halfway done with my scale-sheet. That is the most brutal thing I tell yah...
My plan was to have five Flukes done and sculpted and ready by January to start making for those who wanted to purchase...lol that's out the window hahaha I'm still on the first one! But I am having such a blast through this process, and I am sorry for rambling on, but I'm excited to meet you guys and begin working in this community and sharing and just being creative together. We've got quite the hobby, huh?
Does anyone else go through the whole, "Okay so explain to me what you are doing exactly? Mermaid tails?" Conversation...I think that has been my favorite so far. hahah
I could keep going so I will be done now.
Here is all of my links, let me know where you guys are and I will follow you on instagram :)
