View Full Version : Do you put your fabric tails in the laundry?

I figure if I can wash my swimsuit in the laundry, I should be able to wash my tail since it's made of similar material. I just wanted to make sure I don't make a terrible mistake first. I don't mind if it shrinks in the dryer either since I'm already pretty petite and the fabric is quite stretchy. My only concern would be ruining the tail itself or fading the scale print.

I know that you can do it with most fabric tails as long as it's on gentle and you hang to dry. I personally don't- I just rinse it in running water and let it dry as I don't need to clean it per say, just remove the chlorine.

I rinse them in the sink with clarifying shampoo (stops chlorine) and put them in the dryer. :)

Like, just regular shampoo that you would put in your hair, or is it a special kind?

clairfying shampoo usually has a citrus base to cut the chlorine

I usually toss my fabric tail in the washer with my swim suit, usually with a squirt of swimmer's shampoo, with cool water wash and rinse, hang them all to dry

I've never tossed mine in the washing machine! Only because I have a mahina in the fluke so its huge and way to difficult to get out! Mine doesn't have a fluke opening at the bottom! I've always just rinsed mine out carefully after each swim and then left it to dry and its still perfectly fine! Though another thing to keep in mind is that mines made out of Scuba knit fabric which is a lot thicker then swimsuit material! Swim suits go through just fine so you should be right to just whack it in! :)
