My temporary tail is not that good for me. The fabric thread rips and the monofin is way to flappy. No more Ebay tails from China for me.

That is disappointing - the tail that is. Hopefully you can find one that is a bit more sturdy. When I make mine, I usually use the heavy duty outdoor furniture never going to rip in a million years thread, and vinyl. It doesn't stretch, but I still have my tail from 5 years ago, and it is in like-new condition.
