Hello one and all.
Just a quick introduction. My name is Micha, though my artist name is Lady Pirotessa online.
As most of us, we love mermaids. When I was little I used to pretend I was a mermaid in the ocean by holding my feet together as the waves would come up. Same while playing in local lakes and the like. As I grew, I would dive through the waves, play with my scuba fins, pretending they were one, and just enjoying the water. Always the fish in the family, my mother would have to pull me out of the water (with resistance!) when my lips were blue!
I have always been a strong swimmer and wanted to be a mermaid but never knew about Being a "real mermaid" until the last few years when monofins and tails came out.
This year, for our 10 year wedding anniversary, my husband bought me my first monofin and tail! Over the last year I have been heavily researching different tail creators, following different professional mermaids on facebook, DA and other forums, along with following some blogs/watching a ton of online videos. This week when we went to the pocano mountails for our 10 year wedding anniversary vacation, I was able to try on my fin and swim like a mermaid for the first time. The freedom and joy that flew through me was amazing! I actually find it much easier to swim with my tail than do all of the precision strokes/techniques (though they did come in handy for the first few minutes while getting used to the tail).
I love swimming and even more so now. Mermaiding just feels natural and easy! My husband was filled with joy to see how happy I was and I hope to be able to continue to mermaid <3
I look forward to reading more about everyone else's experiences and can't wait to continue my journey as a mermaid here in VA!
