Hey finned friend!

I've been working on my first ever mermaid top, and wanted tho share the progress.

I started with a nude bra in my size (which took a while to find) and picked up some fake ferns from a cheap store to use as seaweed. I had some ivy that I had put aside for cosplay purposes which I also used.

Everything is sewn by hand.

I then started adding pearls once I was happy with the fern coverage.

I kept doing that until we were sufficiently pearly. I also added ivy around the bottom and sides of the cup to soften the spiky seaweed look and to have some movement in the water.

My shells were also purchased from a cheap store, and are painted with acrylic. The picture doesn't do them justice, but they have black to purple gradient, and are shiny because I mixed in Derivan Matisse Iridescent Medium.

I still have a lot to do, like adding some pearl chains, and gluing the shells down. I also want to do something about the straps but haven't worked out what yet.

But I hope everyone likes it.

Slow but steady progress. The shells are finally pearly enough for my liking, and have been fixed down with e6000. I've started extending the vine foliage out onto the back strap. Thinking I'll do a combination of smaller shells and pearls on the straps. And I might add a shell or a charm to drop chain.

Ooh I like. I am currently working on my first top. I am working on glueing the shells on but it has been a slow work in progress.
