Ayame

Hello!
My name is Kayleen, though I've mostly gone by either Leslax or Nori, depending on what bit of social media I'm on :) I'm 17, almost 18 and have lived in Colorado all my life. I was in swim team since I was 5 and swam for 9 seasons before funding was cut, but I still work at the rec center I pretty much grew up in as a lifeguard at the moment. I'm also certified to SCUBA dive, through NAUI, and have been for 5 years, though I've only dived on a trip once so far.
I love hiking, reading, drawing, photography and costuming, and I hope to make costumes and fursuits (mascot costumes pretty much) for a living.
I've been into costuming since I was 13, and make cosplays for comic con and anime cons nearby, as well as some ren faire costumes. Somee examples are on my facebook gallery if anyone cares to take a look :P https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100011387452349&sk=photos&collection_token=100011387452349%3A2305272732%3A6
My mercharacter's name will probably be Ayame. I have plans to make a tail after I catch up on a few projects, a bit like a koi (the fish I've had for a pretty long time) but with a few additives :) (Its very rough, but a possible underside http://imgur.com/a/VDohX) I think it'll look good with my pixie cut hair :P
I didn't know merfolk was such a huge thing until an amazingly wonderful friend of mine was all '....you can have another obsession'. I did know about people who go out and do birthday parties or events, but never thought it was a whole community. I never really expanded on it much before, my family wants me to think of realistic things like work and finances, which would tie in to costuming and design if they didn't think it wasn't a 'real job' :P
I hope to possibly have a tail done by my birthday, or February at the latest, depending on time constraints. Anndd I'm going to go with fabric and paybe some wetsuit material for lining because silicone is scary and expensive. XD
Thanks for creating this site! Another place I can nerd out <3
