Hey,
I'm helping with a free diving/sailing event in Florida this summer and my unit is looking to use monofins. I'm a bit stuck on what monofin I suggest we get: Mahina, Suntail or Finis Rapid. We'll be training a fair bit between then and now so everyone in the group should be fairly confident swimmers. I'm definitely a fan of Mahina's environmentally aware policies and such so there a person favorite as a company, but I want to get the monofins that will work the best for us. There are no kids in the group, the age range is 14-60. We need them to be durable because we will have no opportunity for intensive upkeep repair for a solid week.

I've only ever used a Merfin, but I was very pleased with it. The fin was strong and durable. I could use it with a very strong, deep-rolled dolphin kick or by just kicking with my legs and get around the pool pretty efficiently. The fin is all one piece, which isn't the case for a Rapid. I have heard of their footstraps breaking before, but again, no experience with it.

Additionally: Mahina comes in specific foot sizes. The Rapid is fairly adjustable, but only fit for larger feet.
I don't know anything about the Suntail though, I'm not sure if I've even heard of it.

I love my Mahina. Tricks and flips are easy, but you can go places in no time at all if you want. Very durable, I purposefully gave it a few good whacks against the side of the pool to test it. Not even the slightest scratch or damage of any kind. I would definitely say go with the Mahina Merfins. I cannot say anything on the other fins, as I have never used them. I hope his helps.

I actually own all 3 of these noe since I just received the mefin the other day. I haven't taken it swimming yet but I do like that the foot pockets aren't one size fits all like the suntail or adjustable like the rapid (i have the wave since my feet are tiny but its the same) The suntail and wave have about the same propulsion and are pretty maneuverable but the straps on my wave slip down frequenly and i have to stop and pull them up which is a little annoying. Since the suntail has a neoprene sleeve that rests on top of the monfin it doesn't have this issue. However I don't recommend this for people with small feet. I wear a size 6 shoe and have really short toes so my feet don't reach all the way up in the pocket past the second strap. Since the strap is over my toes it puts extra strain on the tops of my feet. Beacause of these issues with both I bought the kids medium in mahina which fits my feet properly. I can do a size comparison pic if you would like also.
