I suppose it is safe to say I've always wanted to let my merside free. I don't have a Mername, at least, not yet anyway. I'very recently moved to the Central Florida area, and am very excited to meet all of you, and to get tips, tricks, and all the knowledge you have! I'm not a professional, but I feel that flipping my fins may just be the new start that I've been searching for. I could use all the help you can lend! Thanks for reading!

Welcome! :D I hope you have lots of fun here and meet many people.

Swimming in a mermaid tail / with a monofin is a wonderful feeling, you will love it. :

Some tips and tricks:

1. Join your local pod here at mernetwork, and register yourself at the member map. Makes it much easier to meet people! :)
2. Start with a fabric tail instead of a silicone tail, here you can read why: http://mernetwork.com/index/showthread.php?7106-Why-we-don-t-advise-full-silicone-tails-for-your-first-tail
3. If you want a silicone tail, start saving now!
4. If you want to enjoy swimming in a tail to the max, it is advised to do a freedive course :) At a freedive course they teach you how to hold your breath longer and how to ''equalize'' your ears so they don't hurt as much.
5. Read about health and safety, there's plenty of topics here where you can find info. Buy proper swimming goggles, nose plugs, ear plugs etc.
6. Bring a safety buddy, at least for your first swim in a tail. Start in shallow water. Practice getting it off really fast in case you panic.
7. I usually recommend big monofins. My fabric tail has a monofin that's slightly larger than the average fabric tail's (still not super big or anything competitor like). I have a lot of fun with it and it enables me to swim fast, which feels awesome. And I can still do any trick with it.
8. Practice practice practice :D
