I love ❤ fishey tails! But really, I've been figuring out exactly how I want to assemble this tail, it's a combination of a sequins and painted vinyl.

I'm going to make the "body" out of spandex. (still looking for a good place to get this.) done with the 22mm cartwreight shells. I'm going to get a few different colors for each section so it doesn't look super monocolored.

But, I'm attaching a transparent waistband to the top, made of the clear vinyl so I can blend scales and skin across my waistline. I'm using a zipper, but hiding it with the dorsal fin which will have snaps to keep it closed. Hopefully that will make it seamless looking.

My plans for the fin construction is basically I'll sew pieces of clear vinyl sewn together. Then I'm taking vinyl tubbing and covering the seams to make the veins in the fins. These "veins" will also be used to hide the snaps, to cover the zipper and monofin. Then painting over that base.

The vinyl is coming from a shower curtain. I found one for around $14 on Amazon.

Thank you both!! I honestly can't wait either!

I just noticed cartwreight doesn't have black in the 22mm shells at least, not even like an oil slick looking black or a matte black... I was checking the website to make a list of exactly what I was getting.... Hmm, I'll either have to change what fish I was planning on doing or find someone who does black scales. If anyone knows a company that does black shell sequins that would be super wonderful.

They only do them in 14mm and I have no idea how well they'll hold up in water, but there are black shell sequins here nonetheless...

You could always order a small amount and make a little bracelet or something to take swimming and see what happens!

Oh thank you! I'll probably order some of those and see!

Lol, lots of shipping waiting involves in this, I don't know if I can handle it! XD

But I might be trying the rit synthetic dye on the tubing, to see if it would work. Because if they aren't directly attached to something else I think they would bend to much... Because that could look really cool.

I wonder how well the two sizes would blend, I should probably check that too.

I sounds really cool. You did a lot of thinking about this 😊
I'm a bit concerned about sewing on the sequins to lycra. I'm not sure that it will be sturdy enough. I would use at least 2 layers of lycra maybe 3 to add strength.
Good luck 🐳

Haha, I'm making a sequin/neoprene Palette Surgeonfish (Blue Tang) tail within the next week. It would be cool if we debuted our tails at the same time!
