As the title says I'm restarting my first attempt at my silicone tail. My first attempt flopped due to crazy schedule and no funds.
So what I've got so far
I've made 50+ scales and I used a clay roller machine so to make sure all my scales are even.

This is before I put the design in them

This is the inspiration for the color I was thinking of using the rose gold for the find and fluke, pink gold for the back of the tail, Aztec gold for the sides and pearl white for the under belly. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161031/9762889dfaef3b6d0e3cdccf3c2381fe.jpg
From this pack of petal ex pigment but I'm not 100% sure yet. I would love any feed back on other ideas for colors

And the finished design

It's amazing that some people make their own silicone tail. I am very curious about seeing your progress, and the result of course. The color combination sounds absolutely mermazing!!!

Well got that done plus a little something extra that I made while waiting on the hubby to returnhttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161106/37b98cf28c1d947a3e0304ee4e78e940.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161106/2361d8d3e4178ee45445a0665d236a3a.jpg but I think we may not have put enough hardener in the scales though

Well after scraping and scraping I finally decided maybe soaking it in soapy warm water would help break down the clay. It's like it dried up really badly. Any tips on a way to keep the clay from sticking so badly next time would be helpful [emoji58]

on the plus side the scales seem to be coming out easy enough. But there are a few spots of resin that hasn't curedhttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161106/1fa8c2db5b082c2f6892e985e323fd82.jpg

You can use hair spray to coat your sculpt, this helps with demolding. you can also use a product called PVA which coats your sculpt.
