My name is Teresa and I am a mermaid from the North Pod. I believe, for those of you who are land folks, that the North Pod is roughly what you call North America and Europe. Sadly, I have not been with my pod for the last 15 years. :( First I was in a place called "Colorado"(very wet but no water just white frozen stuff) and recently, a place called "Utah" which is odd because it is very dry but I have heard that there is some salt water(oh how I miss my salt water) in a lake. I intend to find this lake and take a swim for myself.
The reason is thus- in my pod it is a rule that we are to "not interfere with land folk who are on boats and doing no harm to us or our fellow sea friends" About 15 years ago I chose to pull a few pranks and one or two(or *cough* ten *cough*) just happened to involve some land folks. All harmless pranks. I put a few eels on their fishing lines(The eels agreed to this by the way, they thought it was hysterical to see the land folks' reactions), and I might have put a few magnets on the back of some boats to confuse the captains. I never meant any harm, but the Counsel(the mermaids in charge of us all) said I still broke the rules and as such was banished from my pod "For as long as it takes for her(that'd be me) to learn her lesson or until she has reached the age of thirty(which is five years away)"
So I'm stuck on land. Which to be honest sucks. It takes me half an hour to get places that I could swim to in less than 10 minutes. And can we please acknowledge the fact that land air is dry and is horrible for my skin. I can't even find good kelp and seaweed mixes to get enough moisture. Oh well, I guess that's my real punishment for pulling pranks.
I'm still swimming and my land cove has a pool with the most horrid smell, someone said it was "Chlorine" and they are kind enough to let me swim with my tail so I'm not confined to swimming in an unnatural way.
