I'm working on a light-up wig (normally goes with my Luna cosplay), but I haven't decided on what dress I'm going to wear. My normal evening gown is awesome, but really long. I will also be bringing my LED pod poi, just in case some techno music comes on.
Oh and please please dance for us with your light up poi!!!!!!! I love watching that! I will bring my dance lights too and we will have an amazing time! Oh my, how do we do this in ball gowns lol?

Lol Shannon. It's mesmerizing to watch. I've tried learning but I kept hitting myself so I figure best to leave it to the pros like Celeste! I can't wait!

Ha, it's just a hobby for me. I wouldn't consider myself a professional. I would like to perform with it one day, but for right now, I'm just practicing with sock and LED poi.

I'm also learning fire staff, but sadly, my staff doesn't light up yet.

Mermaid Celeste the best things start out as hobbies!!!!! I'm excited to watch you dance with the poi for sure! I remember when I started out as a mermaid 8 years ago I never set out to make it a career, it was just a fun hobby. I admired the pros and never thought I'd be hired as one. Follow your heart. I'm so glad that I did. We went from living in a tiny apartment in the ghetto, my hubby and I working several jobs, taking out loans for our Masters degrees, to now living in a 4k sq ft house with an amazing pool and hottub, paid off those loans and live completely debt free. Justin Timberlake and his lovely down to earth wife Jessica live around the corner from us. I would have never thought I'd get to work for such awesome local celebrities and families and travel around the world. Never! I think dancing with poi & if you add fire to that, eventually matched with your mermaiding, that you will become highly successful, fins crossed! What an awesome show that will be! I'm looking forward to meeting you and several other mers that I've never met yet. What color dress do you think you will wear? I'm torn bc I love to dance so I want to wear something easy to move around in but I love the idea of us all getting together in fancy dresses. Maybe is there a dress that can have a removable skirt with cool leggings underneath? Or with a shorter skirt underneath? What do you think?

Fire!!!! yeah!! I have fire fans, hip belt, palm torches, and a sword. The fire sword is scary though. LOL. I love my LED poi, but hit myself in the face all the time..LOL.

I agree with Bonnie! Adding other talents/elements makes you more marketable. When I got really serious about mermaiding, I had always envisioned incorporating my bellydance and fire into it. So if that is what you are interested in, go for it. I use my poi alot as 'voi' though. Tie veils to them and dance with them like that. They are beautiful to dance with :)

I dont have anything recent, its actually been a while since I pulled out the fire toys. I got the sword for Christmas a year or two ago, tried it once and it was scary, b/c the flames were so close to my head.

I think I'm gonna swoon! I used to dance with LED swords after my shows when I performed with bands as a singer/pianist but nothing fancy. I just love how it feels and am a fan of watching talented people dance this way! I almost can't wait till January! If any of you mers wanna meet up in Nashville I will gladly host you in my home. Just bring your awesome dance gear and we can get the fire going in our outdoor fireplace and have a dance party! Shannon is coming here Dec 4&5...we could have a .#ncmermania2017 preparty!! 🎈🎉🙌🐳

Thanks Bonnie. I am not sure if I can come yet, its going to depend on if I have dance gigs that weekend. You have all inspired me to pull out my fire toys again though.
