Playing with mermaid names today. Nerenia was nice when I was a blue mermaid. But with a new tail comes a new name. Been thinking about my new tail a ton today. Im on day 196 since ordering, not even started to sweat yet, im still riding my high from swimming in Mexico this fall. Happy to wait for my dream tail.

I figure my mersona has always been very siren-ish and maybe more than a little dangerous. My hair is black, I have very light blue eyes, and I always have extremely long stiletto nails and very pale skin. My new tail will accentuate my features and be very otherworldly, and a little alien. I plan on doing makeup to compliment that.

My old tail was a very pretty blue green (it was supposed to be emerald green when I ordered it but...yeah...you know) but my new tail is a horse of a different color...or would that be a Kelpie of a different color? Anyways, I want a name that to kids sounds pretty and exotic but might make other people take a second look. I don't anticipate on working with kids hardly at all so it's not a concern, but all mermaids come into contact with them at one point or another.

I have a list I was putting together of some of my top names.

Mermaid Onyx
Mermaid Thorn
Mermaid Dejah
Mermaid Reaver
Mermaid Kerrigan
Mermaid Ursula
Mermaid Corrin
Mermaid Harissa
Mermaid Saga

Any favorites in there? Any mermaids who already have those names taken? Anything you would recommend for a very adult mer??

What color is your new tail going to be?

The ones I like best are:
Mermaid Onyx (your hair is black and you are pale, so I like the imagery there)
Mermaid Corrin
Mermaid Saga
Mermaid Kerigan

Harissa reminds me of food, because it is one :p
Thorn... I am biased against (unfortunately, due to an incredibly terrible ex). It is probably an awesome name to other people though, LOL!

I'm in the same boat with not having a huge desire to work with kids (I like kids from a distance but I'm not terribly fond of too much interaction with them, haha), but as you say, all mermaids will come in contact with kids at some point - my first official gig was a very kid-oriented fairy festival, I had to put on my game face and entertain those childrens ... And it looks like it could be a recurring gig for me so I have to try to make my adult-y/dark mermaid a little more kid-friendly for those events.

My faves were all the ones Miyu picked out. :) I think my top favorite might be Onyx.

Now I really can't wait to see this tail finished from what little you described of it.

Im keeping the color and design under wraps, and trust me its killing me.

Im laughing though I was just playing with names at work and had no idea Harissa was a food!!! Guess we can safely cross that one off the list!!!

I like Onyx, its really pretty, and by the discription it would really fit you well like Miyu said.

I really like Reaver and Corrin. I'm a big fan of slightly unusual names- even names that aren't really names. I could suggest a few more too, just to throw some new ideas into the mix. But I understand that you've probably thought about it long and hard already and have picked your top names.

Wren
Cywren (Siren, lol.)
Vega
Iris
Delta
Nyx
Sylvie
Salem
Eden

Corrin is used in Fire Emblem Fates, its the starter's given name unless you change it (for both genders).

I like Kerigan but my first name starts with a K, so I'm drawn to K names :P

Ooo Misty, I do love Salem.

Kerrigan, Reaver, Dejah and Onyx have been my top 4 for awhile.
