I'm not sure if I want to get a blended waist tail is it worth it?

Honestly, it depends on the maker and the customer.
For instance, Mertailor's blended waists sometimes don't look all that great, and are actually heavily photoshopped in most of the pictures, but Merbella's and FinFolk's waists are pretty solid.
I like my blended waist, but I still have to control the chub around it. Also, I spend a lot of time in the sun, so my skin color changes regularly throughout the year. My blended waist doesn't always reflect my skin color. So, in order to ease both of those problems, I'll have to use a netting belt to ease the transition and cover the spillover fat. :\
In the end, it's completely up to you.

My tail is by MerNation. I do love them as tail makers, and their paint jobs are getting much, much better! But again, that decision is up to you. Their sculpts don't yet do a smooth transition from skin to scales like Merbella and Finfolk do, they just paint the scales your provided skin color. If anything, you can order a gap wrap- my boyfriend has one, and it looks awesome as a nice transition/hip fins.

Depends on who makes it IMO. I can say for Merbella's it's certainly worth it :D seamless.
All tail makers seem to have their own methods of making them so they all get different results.
