Hey everyone, I'm the Shadow Mermaid, or just Shadow. I'm excited to be joining Mernetwork, and am looking forward to meeting new people and such in the process. Currently, my biggest dilemma is finding a cheap tailmaker (silicone, I already have a fabric one) that is at least okay quality, and then saving up for that tail so I can start practicing and get on to real birthday party gigs and such.
Anyways, I'm glad to be here!

Welcome, Shadow! Everyone I've met here so far has been GREAT. I just joined on Monday, but am clearly much more of a beginner at the whole thing than you are - you have a tail, so that's more than me! So dive right in! The water's fine!
Welcome Shadow. I'm new here also. I'm working on saving up to get my niece a tail as she very into mermaid. I'm just trying to be that awesome uncle. You will enjoy it on mernetwork forum. Everyone is great here :D

Welcome Shadow! Perhaps Finfolk's mythic tails are just the thing for you. They cost about $800 and are partial silicone - the interior is neoprene, the exterior is individual silicone scales.
If you want a full silicone tail, I suggest you save up more :). I don't think you can buy proper quality below $2500 - unless you get lucky and find a second hand that fits you.

Thanks, Lyara! :) What do you know about Mernation's Genesis edition tails? I've been looking at those as well.

Coincidentally, I have also been eyeing Mernation. :) Their tails are beautiful, they come across as very professional and apparently they are fast, too... I do not want the genesis edition, though, because I want more freedom when it comes to the design.

Shadow - the Genesis tails are your Starting line. If you're just starting out and you intend to start with Silicone, or if you have a fabric tail and just want to make your first upgrade to Silicone, they're a good way to go. Probably not recommended for professional mermaiding, but hey - what do I know. I understand the Dragon Skin is a top-notch material; my guess is that these are quality-made tails that only lack in the appearance department.

I was either going to go with Genesis or one of the new finfolk ones, but I don't like their appearance. Cheap is a big factor though. Thanks everyone for the advice! :)

If you're looking for a starter realistic tail, I sell hybrid neoprene/silicone tails that start at $260.
But finfolks new tails and the mernation genesis tails are both really great options as well!!
