I would like to share my experience to you.
I ordered my tail from eric at may 8th. I filled in the email with my sizes. I didnīt know if he would like to have the measurements straight down to the feet or with the roundnesses.
I asked him via email and get no answer, so i sent him both measurements with a mark that the first is straight and the second is with the roundnesses. Hope you understand what I mean.
After a few week the tail was at my home. I must say it was only the tail the shell bra not included.
The tail was green(i ordered purple) and much to short. I tried it and it he the lengh until the half of my back ;-)
The other problem was the design. I wanted one with a sewed end. The green tail had a lot of holes and was made with glue.
That was absolutely not what Iīve ordered.
I send emails.
He said the holes must be there that the water can flow and things like that.
I thought....hmmm ok probably it fits better in water ( in my diving dress it is the same). But no way, too short.
I dried the tail and send him back.
A few days later he proposed me to change the faults at this tail.
He wanted to repair the green tail!!!
In september i wanted to go in holidays at the beach(we have no beach here at all)
He said that it would be here til that week.
2 weeks before we go away i asked him about the tail again.
he said he would send it next tuesday. I said that he had said it would be there at the exacting time and if he could send it express way.
He said he could but i should pay 200$ for express shipping.
It was his fault and I should always pay the shipping.
ok i went to holidays without the tail.
After two weeks back in germany, the tail still wasnīt there.
Then he told me that it isnīt finished yet!!!
He always said next tuesday and nothing happend.
Then he didnīt answer my mails at all.
He got a new email adress and didnīt say anything.
I told his mermaid model melissa about my story.
Then came a mail that I shouldnīt terrorize his friends...
I choosed to take me an attorney of law. I ased that man what to do, and we would wrote a letter.
Than the right tail was coming. In january!
Just without the bra.
A lot of weeks and a lot of mails later, the bra was send, too. I think it was in march.
He has no idea of woman bra sizes.
I tried that thing ( looked totally not like on the photo) and it was over 10 centimeters too short.
i ased my mother try it, she has a model body. she is very slim but have just a little breast...

what?! Holy cow I am so sorry! :( :( :( You got a green tail when you ordered purple, it has holes in it (mine certainly doesn't have any holes in it) and your bra should have came with your tail. This is getting ridiculous! I can't believe all these bad reports! I am so sorry :( :( I know the feeling of having a tail that is too short all too well!

yeah busy- he always said- youīre not the only customer- I told him that i have a buisness too, when i do something wrong than it is my priority to make it right again, but he said, I am "childish"
okay I understand whay he wanted the holes but I didnīt order that style!

that is absolutely horrible and he called you childish? Clearly his focus isnt on his tails anymore. This is really really really horrible. Is he even doing this work himself or outsourcing or what? Ugh this is just so awful. I think you should post it everywhere.

I donīt understand that...
The next tail I will make will have holes too but not like that. I had fear that will break apart while swimming:-/

I cut holes in my mertailor tail with a knife. I have not had any trouble with it.

not holes like that! I took your advice Jesse and cut my holes really close to the tip and went over them with paint again. They certainly don't need to be that giant

There are burn holes in my mertailor tail. I wrote him and complained about it but he said that's how he makes them. I said he should warn people because his pictures do not show that.

This still isn't resolved? When I called him earlier this year about my tail when I was having issues he actually started talking about these forums in a negative way saying all people do is write bad things on these forums and talked about the customer in Austria that was upset...I had to stop him I was like Whoah! First, I like the forums bc they generally give honest reviews, second the forum helped me cuz as soon as I posted my experience he got right on the problem and started fixing it and third..I don't wanna hear about someone else's problems, let's talk about MINE. Then it got resolved. My tail does have burn holes in them, one right on my butt. I just took my tail to a highly regarded seamstress in Nashville (they are not cheap at all)! And they are not only taking in my tail at least 4 inches around, but trimming the top and using the extra fabric to patch in his holes. The lady last week when she observed my tail and remarked on the holes I said "oh he means to do that, it came with those holes for better water flow" totally standing up for Eric but she shook her head and said "no one ever means to do this honey" "this is ugly" and then tsk'ed tsk'ed as she critiqued the problems that I made up excuses for bc I love the tails and I want to like the maker of those tails and be on his good side. I will upload pix once it is finished. I hope your issue is resolved!

Granted the color thing should be corrected and i understand the holes in the fluke but also keep in mind that latex is hard to work with especially when used for the applications your using it for the reason he has to burn the bottoms is to seal it (which is hard to do) he'd have to be able to tastefully seal it in 10 seconds before it hardens again latex is touchy stuff and would be difficult to set together. my mother was a seamstress and she wouldn't even go near latex as a material for sewing the latex could tear or bunch up improperly if someone doesn't know how to handle it. also the waist has to be bigger to fit over your thighs if they cut the opening to fit your waist you'd risk tearing each time it passes the largest part of your thighs remember he has to take into account every measurement that opening hits before your waist. and if you read his bio he's someone who been doing this only a few years and may make mistakes (which i do agree should be repaired or fixed) and at the same time you have to understand he's just one man. he has tried improving on his methods on how to make the tails seamless and perfect but again it's difficult with the materials he uses I'm not saying let him off the hook if your unhappy but I'm just saying cut him some slack he's trying and sometimes there will be small problems it doesn't matter how good you are at something your going to make mistakes once in a while.

First of all ive NEVER heard of burning latex to seal it? Ill make some calls and look into that. Latex is actually pretty easy to work with especially when you are using such a minimal amount of it on a tail. Maybe his OLD tails but not these giant new tails.

Honestly I think ALL of us might be a little more willing to cut him some slack if eric made ANY effort. but he doesn't. He has not apologized for anything, he doesnt offer to fix anything, he blames things on the customer and is rude. I understand that the waist has to be a little bigger but they also need to fit. And this whole "ill fix one mermaids tail but wont fix anothers" thats just bad business and it shows how immature he is. He doesn't listen to us and try to improve himself, he tries to silence us and hold us down to people cant see the bad hes doing. having our posts taken down was a very dick move. I have no respect for someone like that. And if he spent more time listening to us and trying to fix his mistakes he would be a lot better off than stalking us and terrorizing us.
And if hes just one man/boy then he should try being human every once in a while, instead of "Mertailor LLC this" and "Mertailor LLC that" and "WE here at Mertailor LLC" Hes trying to make himself a lot bigger than he actually is. Instead of being "WE here at the STUDIO at Mertailor LLC" he could just be a little real and say its just 20year old Eric in his garage (which is is his "studio") with which ever girl hes sucking the life out of at the time before he gets too paranoid and pushes her away like everyone else. Oh and also Hes told me himself that his mom makes tails for him and also his boyfriend at the time has made tails and he also mentioned one other woman he had making tails for him. These are the employees of his. And again "Hes only been doing it for a few years" then he should NOT be anywhere near as arrogant as he is, and should be doing ANYTHING in his power to make his company look good, because as solid as he thinks he is, a bad rep lasts and word spreads. I know I have personally talked COUNTLESS people out of buying tails just by telling them what happened to me. I get emails everyday about it, and I know other mermaids do to and none of us are on his side.
I suspect this is someone close to him (which narrows it down a bit) and I think its nobel of you to try and stand up for him, I really do, But in all honesty hes the only one that can fix things, and he really could if he tried even a LITTLE bit, but hes digging himself deeper and deeper and hes much too arrogant to put his pride aside and fix any of his mistakes, because as far as hes concerned hes gotten his money. He CLEARLY doesn't care about the mermaid community and only cares about himself and money.

it;'s burned from improper use of the heat gun. And anyone who makes one post in defense of Eric before doing anything else on the forums, has Eric written all over it. I've had emails from people who work with Eric telling me he says himself he has no reason for putting holes in, he just does it to people he's worried will try and use their tails professionally or so they'll spend more money on him to have them fixed. And that's the truth. No more bullshit Eric crap because he's made it very clear he's not customer oriented and out for only himself. I dont want to hear anything about it being hard to work with... this is his business. He makes quality product or he doesn't ship it. You wouldn't buy a leather jacket with holes and say, aww cut them a break the holes allow for cooling and leather is hard to work with! Bull. Shit. Mistakes once in a while?

I'd like Aredelle's IP checked please.

According to the IP they are located in Mt Laurel, NJ.
May I just say if Eric did want to create a user name to post, now he knows that we are checking IPs, he could fake an IP if he wanted on badly enough. I'm keeping an eye on it, but they've almost become irrelevant.

This really just takes the cake. i cannot believe it. Lol i should buy one off hima nd if its screwed up by any means ill get my aunty who si a judge at court to fu him up =)... soz guys about the tails he dosent give a crap about. If i was in his position i would make sure everything is done good and to perfection. oviouseley hes still a kid and he needs to grow up.

I am so glad I decided to do a ton of research before buying or making a tail. I stumbled onto the Mertailor website while me and a friend were enthusiastically looking for something incredible, and functional, and usable in many settings, especially modeling and filming. After seeing "Mermaid Melissa" and the male with her swimming, as well as some of the gallery pics of his tails--I really wanted one.

I saw the price having been knocked down and as a cosplayer and frequent costumer for many reasons immediately thought -- "I've spent about that much on a cosplay before! And to experiment and struggle with my first few tails may equal that much anyways... buying one isn't so unreasonable.."

I almost ended up where you all have been, are, or know someone who suffers through. I can't imagine how traumatizing it would be to have my first tail be something so awful.

So thank you all! So much!

This is absolutely unbelievable. I have to thank each and every one of you for posting your stories because you have been a total life saver and have saved me from wasting hundreds of dollars! Ill admit, I used to be a HUGE supporter of Eric and recommended him to everyone but this has appalled me and there is no way he's going to scam any money off of me or my friends.

Also, Ill let you all know that Ive taken this further and he is STEALING from trusting clients and hopefully the story will go to print....at least in Australia. News will hopefully spread to America as well and all over the world!

He has indeed deleted his youtube account and facebook support page...obviously he was getting lots of hate mail (which he deserves) and like a sad, little coward of a boy he ran with his tail between his legs. This is absolutely disgusting!

I could not believe that when one of you posted that he puts the holes in because he's afraid a client will use the tail for performing that made me sick because I told him when I first contacted him that I wanted to be a mermaid performer so he had obviously planned from the start to sabotage my tail. Un-f*cking-believable, I am so ticked off right now!

Thanks again to all of you who opened my eyes! And Raven, Ive contacted you in regards to tails :)

Sora, thats why we post our stories!

Nina, I'm sorry your so upset, believe me I totally understand what it feels like to support eric 100% and then realize hes not the person I thought he was. Luckily the mermaid community is strong and we are all working together to fix the current "corrupt tail maker" status. NOT SAYING THAT THEY ARE ALL BAD but I think its time for a change. Im working really hard on my tails right now I have one drying right now as well as fins and tops and such. Mike seems to be taking more interest in selling tails, lots of other crafty people are working hard too. There will be plenty of options very soon.

I'm still working on my tutorial (for people who want to make their own) as well as I want to offer 2 types of tails, tails made from molds (still working) and tails made the same way I've explain how to make them. Both types will be under 500$ *thats my goal for the molded tails* My Goal is to work with you guys so everyone is happy and has a tail made with love:)

Where did you contact me to? I have been getting emails (quite a few) about tails and Im sooooooo sorry they aren't ready yet but very very soon! Im hoping to finish this first tail this week:)! Not gonna lie I feel pressure to step up to the plate with this one, but I'm MORE than happy to, Im working hard, and putting my ALL into these tails. Im turning all eric's negativity into fuel for positive things.

As frustrated as I am with Eric I sincerely he hope he bounces back with vigor, fresh ideas, and honest work. He has the power to make a lot of people happy and he can be happy too. I hope this whole situation just pushes him to be a better person and when that day comes I will eat my words with a knife and fork.

I friend of mine got her mertailor tail and isnt happy with it either=/ anyone remember that pretty blue one he posted on his fan page before he took it down? Thats her tail and she said there was a ton of stuff wrong with it:(

I saw that tail and actually thought maybe he was turning around but I guess not...
