My daughter (4'11" and very slim) has been asking for a silicone mermaid tail for years. The $1000+ prices are just too much for us to spend. Does anyone have a suggestion for a more economical option (to include any tails for sale that might work?) We are open to modifying her current Finfun tail/monofin if that is a possibility by adding silicone pieces. Any advice is appreciated!

I've done that with my daughter's fin fun tail (and mine as well). If she's an experienced swimmer she'll get used to the extra weight of the fluke very quickly! You'll find all kinds of information in the tailmaking section for making your own silicone pieces, but if you don't feel like making one I offer silicone flukes and fins (and a tutorial) for this purpose in my Etsy shop (https://www.etsy.com/shop/FancyFishFashions?ref=hdr_shop_menu). :)

If you're going to modify a fabric tail consider getting a Magictail. The fabric is much more sturdy than finfun.

The new Magictail Pros have huge flukes which also fit a Mahina merfin. The big fluke looks much more realistic in photos. It's a good "midlevel" tail since she'll probably still grow more and you wouldn't want her to grow out of an expensive silicone tail too quickly. A Magictail pro skin is ~$100 and a Mahina is ~$100.

I sell Magictails here in the US and you can use my coupon code MISSMERMAIDUSA17 for 20% off Magictail.net from Germany ;) let me know if you have any questions!

How about a Finfolk mythic tail? They cost $799, are fully covered in individual silicone scales and the fluke is silicone as well. Very pretty tails. https://finfolkproductions.com/collections/mermaid-tails

Mythic tail scales are resin not silicone.

^Oh I see! Well the scales are very pretty anyway and at least the fluke is silicone.
