Hi! so a few months ago, a young girl by the age of 4 (who had just learned to swim) was using a mermaid tail, and drowned at my neighborhood pool, now i have nowhere to swim because they banned the tails. all pools near me banned them D:
can someone recommend me locations in jacksonville-st augustine florida on where i can swim..?

I can't help you with that... But I can't believe someone allowed a 4-year-old to swim unsupervised... ESPECIALLY IN A TAIL!!😑

i cant believe it either!! the pool lets lifeguards off duty at 6pm, and closes at 7:30.... But Where were the parents at that time?

Exactly!! And besides, lifeguards aren't nannies! I wouldn't leave my kid alone in a pool no matter how many lifeguards there were... Like, if anything happens of course someone will lose their job but it's YOUR KID who drowns, it's just common sense

But even then, Theres nowhere for me to swim like i want too...
i wrote some reasons why i should be allowed to swim there, i know the assistant manager well, but she said no..

I don't know anything about your area but most pools around my area don't allow fins (I don't really know why though...) so I'm just used to waiting till it's warm enough to go to the beach...

Hey there, fellow Florida mer! There are actually a few mers in the community where you are! For the most part, they head to the beach or Ginnie springs. I would talk to Mermaid Kelly to find out more about that.

Wow... 4 years old is way too young to swim in a tail if you ask me, unsupervised or not... poor girl.
Hope you'll find a good place to swim! I really envy you for living in a country full of springs and beautiful nature :) I'm sure you'll find a great location.

I agree!! nobody should let a 4 yr swim in a tail unless its got feet holes ;-;
Thank you! i gotta find a heated pool because my parents wont let me swim in the cold pools or springs because there afraid i will get hyperthermia..

Oh gosh! That really is tragic :(
I can't help you as I live between Orlando and Tampa in Lakeland, but some of the pools around here allow tails/fins. And there's plenty of lakes, but I haven't taken the risk of going in them just yet due to my extreme fear of gators! The spring near me is pretty much unsupervised, which is good for me, I guess, but maybe there's some springs in your area?
Hopefully another more northern Florida mer can help you out !!! :)
Happy swimming!
