It depends on the belly ring. I know most will not rip clothing. If it has a loose jumpring (slightly open) then it can snag or tear. If it has any sharp edges, then it's possible for it to rip clothing or a fabric tail. If it's a silicone tail, it might be harder for it to tear unless it is very thin.
