It all depends on the tattoo. If its well done, then its pretty awesome. I have 2 tattoos. One is my mermaid on my thigh and my Sailor Moon back piece. There are several mers here who have tattoos. ^__^

I second Slim! I have a small one on my inner wrist and my artist was amazing! I've also seen some total crap though. So my advice is that if you want one, research research research! I was lucky because my family members had gone to the guy before, so I knew first hand. You also have to like their art style, because many artists will have a different take on the same design, so you have to find one that will meld with what you have in mind.

My grandfather recently passed away. Hi was close to me. So I decided to have my first tattoo. It must be memorial and dedicated to my grandfather. What do you think about this one? http://tattooimages.biz/picture/17460-wooden-memorial-cross-tattoo/ But with another text.

Dagg I think that's lovely. Just do your research on the tattoo artists that you're considering. Make sure that the shop they're in is clean, certified, and has a good atmosphere. Cleanliness is major when getting a tattoo. Talk to the artists about how they clean their equipment, about their inks, and any concerns you have.

I agree with other folks here, I have a tattoo as well located over my right hipbone & the crease to my abdomen of a particular cactus flower that blooms once and then dies as a sentimental reminder of the good that is inside someone very close to me who has unfortunately caused some very damaging emotional trauma because of an illness they fight. The trick was research. With any artwork you are having done the artists own style will shine through so you want to make sure that the artist you choose has a style that fits the finished image you want. And yes, look into the shop's hygene. Unfortunately it is all to easy for their to be something that could go wrong if things are not treated exactly right and you do not want to end up with any medical complications because you were trying to honor your grandfather.

I find a tattoo nice if it is creatively and neatly done. It is an art for me. Though, It would depend also who wears it and who created it. Better to find a good tattoo artist to design it for you.
