Hello Mermaid's and Mer-Dude's!!
I have been lurking on the forum for a month now, and thought today would be a great day to finally say hello and introduce myself. I'm an ex swim jock, and swim coach, and now I am somewhat of a newb in the Mermaid world. I say somewhat because I feel like I was born to be a mermaid, I just hadn't found my niche until just recently. I'm sure most of you can relate! For my day job I am a photographer, and videographer. I'm looking to learn as much as I can and help other along the way too.
;)
Anyhow, I am in the Houston area, and am super on the look out for other fellow Mer's to swim with and of course collaborate with.

Welcome to Mernetwork! Being a photographer/videographer sounds like a fun job! I am guessing that means eventually you will have nice photos and videos of you as a mermaid. :)
Welcome to the mernetwork. I'm just going to take a guess but hopefully you got some good underwater pictures to make us all jellyfish.

Thank y'all so much for the kind welcomes!! I am currently dreaming up using drones and goPro's for future creative shoots. This summer I plan on fine tuning my gear/set up and hopefully making a few friends to join in. I've got idea's out the whazoo... but hoping to only inspire and include with my creativity. :D
I am in the research phase of DIY-ing for my tail, and admittedly I love it. There's so many ways to express yourself as a Mermaid, I'm just trying not to get overwhelmed with the plethora of information you all have laid out before me here on this forum. -Thank you! Right now I have a Mahina fin and I dig it because it reminds me of the ones that we would use for practice when I was training. There are a few cons to it, but it has inspired me none the less. However, to repeat what I said to a fellow Mermaid earlier today that there's just something so enticing about those 'unboxing' videos on youtube, I sort of have this desire to just allow a professional to design me my first tail.
Again, thank you all for the bubbly welcomes!

I'm Houston area, too, Kingwood, exactly, but! I've just moved here (jersey kid). So, Hello! are you looking into silicone or fabric, or?
I want to try my hand at silicone but I've never fabricated anything, myself.
I've got a fabric mertailor atm - only used it in my pool so far - but once summer hits I wanna do all the places >_<

Hello hello!!
A Jersey boy?! That means you must have some spice running through your veins, that's perfect for us native Texans. ;)
So glad to know there's a fellow Mer near me. I have family near your area in Pearland! Have you found any fun swimming holes or pools in your area yet?! I'm hoping to take part in the mermaid parade out in San Marcos this year. :D
I have heard great things about Mertailor tails! I'm sort of leaning on a hybrid to get started. That way I could add scales and cool stuff as I go. My dream tail is to find a fin that pays homage to my Texas roots.

I have a pool so I've just been doing that - but I know there's a lake around here some place but I haven't had the opportunity to check it out yet. I don't know what San Marcos is but I definitely want to find out about a parade
I've thought about getting one of the hybrid types - like the Basic from mertailor or the FinfolkProductions Mythic - and then try my hand at making my own silicone - I've got so many extra rooms now I can definitely have a work space. Thank you Texas housing market

You are blessed to have a pool! I would imagine you're in there as much as possible. Check with the locals in your area about the lake, and see what the say about the gator's. We have an abundance in our area. Our housing market is pretty awesome! And most complain, but the weather isn't half bad either.
San Marcos (is a town about two and a half hours away) and they have a Mermaid parade and festival in September now. They even have a ball! :D

Hello! Welcome! I am near Austin and San Marcos and have been here roughly a year after relocating from LA. I participated heavily in last year's mermaid events in San Marcos and it was fintastic! I'd love to meet you both and perhaps plan some swim togethers for the summer.
