View Full Version : adjusting a blended waist on a silicone tail?

Hey guys! I have a bit of an issue with my blended waist (see photo below) It sits too high up on me and results in some unflattering love handles and when I swim it rolls down resulting in an even more unflattering sausage roll effect. I wear a net belt to help but I rather try and fix it. Its a silicone tail and the waist is reinforced with mesh. I also have 2 side fins on the hips. My thoughts were to simply cut it down (maybe in a scale pattern) and hopefully that would solve the issue? Thoughts?

In my experience altering the shape can make your waistline split. But cutting it down shorter would be a better option I think. I also find that the waistline rolling down can sometimes be too much lube, so I've started wiping out my waistline once I get the tail on. Only downside to that is if you need to adjust it later while swimming- the suction can be awful! I've had to repair all the blended waist lines on my tails, and Im about to repair one in the next day or so. If you can show me some photos or something I might be able to give you more specific advice!

Thanks AniaR! I have tried to watch the lube it just really likes to roll down, maybe it has to do with how thin it is? The blended waist part is shorter on the tail then the drawing makes it look, but the tail itself does sit high on me. the waist is also a little taller in the front so maybe that contributes to it? I don't know, I just am not a fan of swimming and having to wear a belt to hide the weird roll.

I would agree with Raina, maybe cutting it down. since its smooth, i don't think you actually need a scalloped edge!

yeah I think trimming it down all the same way (so not in scale shape, just a hard cut across) should solve the issue!

I have some advice for you!!
I made that tail :) I have found that trimming the blended waist down really close, but still leaving just a little results in a SUPER realistic look in photos. I did it to my personal tail and it totally looks photoshopped in pictures!!
Also if you ever need to send your tail back so I can change anything or touch it up you know I'm always here for you :) (I know shipping from Canada is a pain tho)

Sirenalia, you did an outstanding job matching her skin tone on that blended waist! And of course, I love the aqua color ;-)
