Hello everyone :)

I'm a UK animator and artist who loves costuming and am super pleased to have come across this fantastic community of fanciful folk!

As a kid I loved all mythical things, including mermaids, but in the absence of a way to really 'become' one I moved onto other fancies, so imagine my absolute delight when I discovered people do become mermaids in real life - I became a bit obsessed. I've always been into peculiar and wonderful hobbies; I collect dolls, my little ponies, and I cosplay, fursuit, and work designing and animating characters for kid's television. I've dressed as satyrs, game characters, animals and orcs and basically if it involves imagination and costumery I can't wait to be a part of it and throw myself into new experiences. The art behind mermaiding is really outstanding.

This year I was lucky to stumble across an article in our newspaper about mermaids and by sheer coincidence, my partner (who is fortunately into all the crazy stuff I am!) was very eager to get involved. He booked a mermaid 'lesson' with his work colleague and now we shall be attending Merfolk UK - our first mermaid convention - later this month. I am super excited to learn what it's all about! I used to really dislike swimming, but since wearing a mermaid tail for the first time, it has really inspired me to swim more, get better at it and be fitter overall.

I hope to meet many wonderful people on here and in real life at the convention! My partner and I will both be there and are super excited - we have restrained buying a tail thus far but will most likely go for a finfun if the convention is as wonderful as we think it will be :)

So happy swimming ^^

ps. Sorry about the username. I spend most of my costume hobbies dressed as a dog so it sort of stuck!
