Hi everyone I just had a question to ask. I have pretty bad eyesight so I am cursed with the constant trouble of needing glasses and contacts to see. I typically wear goggles in the pool when I swim to protect my eyes but as I've heard before 'mermaids don't wear goggles'. I was just wondering if there were any other merfriends out there who had similar issues and had any tips on how they overcame this issue. Than you all!

THIS. I have exactly the same problem. I swim with glasses above water but ofc, mermaiding underwater, when I tried swimming with glasses they sort of blast off! Maybe there is a way to fix them better when underwater?
I only mermaid for fun so at the moment I just accept I need goggles swimming. I'd love to see any advice you receive in this thread too!

yea, plenty of people have this issue, and I overcame it by learning what kind of eye-eating bugs can live in water and even properly chlorinated pools :p
The only place where I swim without goggles is my own pool.
Eyesight>vanity, anyday!
Unless you plan on doing parties or such, where wearing goggles might lose you some customers (although I'd flip the bird to people who tell me that a mythological creature they've never seen doesn't do this or that), you could use embellished goggles or a mask.
There are several threads on that on the forum.
Alternatively, you could try to swim with closed eyes, but I wouldn't recommend that.
Unless you already know; don't swim with contacts in, not even when wearing goggles.
The risk to catch something that can damage your eyesight is pretty high.
