View Full Version : Synthetic dreads for swimming?

I wanted to have dreads for years and thought of the synthetic ones (double ends that they braid into your hair). The only thing I read online are that they can be heavy after swimming... but that's it. (I think I can deal with that) And just cleaning them really good after being in the water and immediately drying (wich doesn't look that difficult?)

I am going to ask someone who does these dreads, but I have an appointment so this will take a week...

Any opinions or people who you know that can give a bit of advice already? (everywhere I read online is the same answer the heaviness & cleaning, drying)

I have been wearing synth dreads on and off for a while now. You are right. If you have a fine hairline I suggest not braiding it or your baby hairs either. The weight of the dreads can pull them out.

I just spoke with the person that will do them :) she said if I used light weight and I already want the really thin dreads it will be no problem! and also I am not doing a whole head, I will keep my fringe and some on the side yay!

I make and wear synthetic dreads. They are a bit heavy when wet but I find they dry quickly. They are fine to swim in if your hair is strong enough to support them
