So I just ordered my mahina merfin today, and while I enjoy the colors that Mahina offers, I had to get a blue one instead of the black that I wanted, since I'm impatient and didn't want to wait forever to get it from Australia. :P
Does anyone have any ideas for painting a mahina? I intend to paint a blue one purple.
I know that plasti-dip spraypaint is out of the question, because it hates to stick to rubber. Really, any spray paint is a no-go because of chemicals and because it has little to no flex to it.
I'm not even sure the material of the mahina and what paint would bond to it.
Any ideas?

I know one mermaid painted hers, but I think others have had trouble doing the same after her. I personally have no experience with the subject, but good luck :)

If you are aiming to get it to black, I wonder if dyeing it would work out? Rit dyes has a range that is made for synthetic materials now, it works wonderfully on vinyl I don't see why it wouldn't hold to rubber.

Or even using a sharpie could possibly work, although I imagine it would get expensive and possibly be patchy

Butterfly, I was aiming on either purple or black. I'll look into the rit dyes, thanks for the tip off! And I think Sharpie would just be really arduous and patchy.
