Mermaid Cherish

Technically, I'm not new. But since it's been over a year since any one has heard from me, I thought I'd say hello... again!
My journey to get my tail began in 2015 and the dream has continued to evolve. Before I discovered mermaiding, I was ill. I managed life ok, but struggled with mental health problems such that I didn't have hope of ever having a real future. I couldn't go to school or work.
I'm not made of money and I knew I had a bit of weight to lose. So I decided to get to a target weight before getting my first tail. I started educating myself on how to eat and exercising A LOT. In 4-5 months, I lost 50 (fluctuated and stayed more around 40) pounds. More than that, my mental health symptoms started improving by leaps and bounds! I was inspiring others to get healthy and inspiring myself to continue fighting the battle. And another dream was born.
I decided to go back to school to become a personal trainer. In January 2016, I started attending community college, working toward my General ASA. To date, I am half way through school. I will be graduating next May (2018) and moving onto university to get my Exercise Science Bachelors. Physical Fitness has done a lot for me and I want to make an impact on someone's life, backed by the education to help them meet their goals, as a personal trainer (and possibly nutritionist). Unfortunately, last year I stopped exercising because I found myself so busy with school! So I maintained. I didn't lose (but I didn't gain either!) much more weight. How ironic. That said, however, I finally got fed up enough with school, school, school and no exercise that I finally threw the towel at school and decided to exercise any way. I'm still going to school, but I'm allowing myself a little time to have a life outside of education. I've been working my fishy tail off to lose that weight (and enjoying it)! Not sure if I've lost any yet, but I'm working on it!
I didn't graduate from high school, but got my equivalency diploma in '02. Since I'll be graduating from community college next year, I have decided to have the open house I've never had. I want it to reflect me, a vegan mermaid. I want to share foods that I enjoy in my new, healthy lifestyle and somehow decorate as an under the sea/mermaid theme. All I seem to be able to find on the internet is for little kids, so if you have any ideas or websites I should check out, please do let me know! I was able to find a card box that looked like a treasure box. Put a card slot on top, add a mermaid and prestidigitation, I'll have a treasure box for all my cards!
In the meantime, I have not forgotten my fishy beginning. As soon as I have the money to do so, I fully intend to get my first monofin. While I'm still not ready to get my tail, I do want that fin pretty badly! I've worked hard towards my goals and feel I've earned at least that much. My dreams have not died. If any thing, they have evolved! And I am chasing them down with all the power in my pitiful human legs. What kinds of careers do other mermaids have? I know you're not all professional mermaids. Are there any other personal trainers or nutritionists out there?
