I saw the video in Dallas decades ago and have never forgotten it. It stirred something and I researched how it was made, who and how the mermen were trained, collected some of Herb Ritt's images, then forgot about it until the advent of the Internet and Youtube.

It led me to more research, where I found Eric Ducharme's video, website and the whole merfolk subculture. Which, led me here.

Who else had their interest piqued by the video?

I'm ashamed to say I'm a child of the 80's and a big Madonna fan, and I've never seen this video before! Cool! Those are some gorgeous tails.

I doubt those tails were made by the mertailor as they look way too realistic for his quality

There were four Merman tails created by Global Effects in North Hollywood, California, for the video.
