I am looking in to buying a Mahina but I am hearing mixed reviews on foot sizing. What are your opinions and experiences when buying this fin?

I bought adult size small as that is their sizing for UK size 5
however i had to trim the foot pockets a couple of inches and now my feet fit fine in them. I suffer with cramping after 20-30 minutes swim and have to remove the fin and shake off the cramp and i can continue. i do not get any rubbing or blistering
i feel an adult size medium would be too large on me and therefore give me rubbing and blistering, i don't want to have to drag neoprene socks with me and ruin the look, so i suffer the cramps for several minutes before i take a break and remove the fin
i still love love love my mahina merfin and have been happy with it for about 9 months, before last week purchasing a finfun tail, which i really love too.

What do you mean by trimming the foot pocket?

I got uk size 10/eu 43 feet and I bought women's merfin size L. They are pretty narrow but I have narrow feet too. Wouldn't recommend for wide feet, my mother couldn't wear it and she has wider feet but 41 only. I use 2,5mm neoprene socks with it. Btw trimming means you cut some rubber off from where foot pockets start.

I'm a US 6.5 and got the small. I have to wear socks with it to avoid blistering and make it snuger to my feet. Still find it pretty easy to swim with! Full review: https://youtu.be/ggbXhjReWgM

because it is made out of rubber, you can use a stanly knife and trim it until it fits

I'm a US 7 shoe with very wide feet. Frog like, even. I wear a M Mahina with neoprene booties (without booties it gave me pretty severe blisters), and the size is perfect. The booties are too big for me, so I tape them down and have to work to get them sitting right in the foot pocket, but once I'm in, no problems.
If you are any bigger than a 7, you probably need an L. My sister in law is a 7.5, sometimes 8 and cannot get her feet into my Mahina.
I used to get foot cramps too after about 30 minutes in the Mahina but I started taping my 3rd and 4th toes together (hockey trick) and it works like magic - no cramps since!
