ok so i am buying my first silicon tail. i swam in a fin fun fabric tail first ug lol. but i cant decide between competitor ( witch is the one i think i want ) or the rapid and wave ( the one my tail maker suggests ) dose anyone have experience with any of these? can anyone give me pros and cons and if any are harder than the others? i will primarily be swimming in pools but i really want to take it out to lakes and streams. my boyfriend has also been talking about a trip to the Caribbean and i would love to take my tail out on the reef there! all ive heard about the competitor is that it is big and stiff but has alot of power in it. where as the rappid and wave are smaller ( supposedly still have power ) and easier to maneuver. any advice would be awesome

thank you !!!!

Most professional mermaids recommend against the rapid in a silicone tail because of the buckles and because it is adjustable. It's hard to get your hands down there!
And it could damage your tail if you try to stuff your hands down there with your feet in there.
Also, if the strap breaks you've got a heck of a time putting a new one in there. Just from what I've read on here! I'm not a pro by any means!

Let me also say I love my rapid! It is very comfortable for my feet and propels me across the pool very easily!

I used a Shooter in mine. It has a stiff blade, comfortable foot pockets, and powers pretty well through the water.

Unless you are getting a lighter silicone tail, like the cheaper option MerNation offers, I would suggest against a Wave or Rapid. I was going to use one of these in my silicone tail, but many Mers advised me against it as the weight of the full silicone fluke could cause the plastic monofins to break, warp, and other problems.

As for the Competitor, I hear it is really good for open ocean swimming and packs propulsion, but it will add more bulk to your tail making it difficult to move in small spaces. Also if most of the time you are going to swim in smaller pools it probably won't be a useful upgrade; however, if you going to take it out to lakes and the ocean often it might be useful.

It looks like this:

FinFolk uses them in their Mythic Tails and a lot of tail maker, I have heard, use them.

The only difference between a rapid and a wave is the size of the foot pockets and the blade from the rapid is slightly bigger.
