Aloha all my fellow merbeings! It's been a while since I've posted, but I'm working on a new project! I'm staying with smaller things right now, because of the issues of my hands, but nonetheless, a project has been started. 😁😁😁😁😁

So, I have this doll. It's called a Reborn Baby. She is painted to look life like, and weighted to feel heavy, like an actual baby. Her name is Ashlyn, and I've had her for 3 years.

I've decided to make her a silicone hybrid tail, so I can take her to events and such. Plus, who doesn't like babies, ESPECIALLY if they have a mermaid tail?! I'm using an old pair of leggings for this. Here goes nothing!

MATERIALS:
Reborn Doll
Hair ties
Seran wrap
Masking tape
Beer box
One pair of old black leggings
Paint
Scissors
Pearl Ex Pigment(s)
Silicone Caulking
Silicone caulking gun

DUMMY CAST:
To start, I needed a dummy cast, so I used hair ties to bind her legs together.

Next, I used seran wrap.

Finally, the masking tape.

Now, her legs are already bent, and can't be straightened, so this dummy is all kinds of awkward.

THE FLUKE:

I chose to use a piece of cardboard from a beer box. I sat down, and freehanded it. It's by no means perfect, but this is a trial run.

After cutting it out, I laid it on the leggings, in the crotch area, and traced it with paint.

This is what I have done so far. I'll keep updating this post. Hopefully, I can finish this within a day or two.

Be carful, if your fake baby is made of silicone, the silicone caulking will stick to it. So unless you want that to happen, make sure to be careful that it does not fuse together.

Silicone loves to stick to silicone- so be aware <3

I've already thought of that. She will always be wearing socks and pants
