I think that parent should get her a** off that float and put her child in for more swimming lessons before getting her a tail and encouraging tricks. I also personally think swimming in those little pools is unsafe, though it's shallow there isnt much room, no bars/walls to grab.
Personally i'd never buy a mermaid tail for a child who cant tread water for 5 minutes straight or swim with out their legs. And then should they get their tail any tricks would be stood at the side of them spotting. It's just common sense really? isnt it... :s

It is! I was so upset at this. You don't just buy a tail when the child has little to no skills. I took swim classes as a child and retained my skills and practices until i got my real monofon which i will get to use.

This video is a few years old, and has been very widely discussed! There's a few threads here on it all ready. Pearlie mae and I both reached out to the mom. The little girl had never used a tail before and the first thing she did was a flip. The mom made the video because she wanted to warn parents to pay attention to their kids in the water, and she felt it was used to justify tail bans. She made more videos and posts but they didnt get the same media attention.

It's worth noting that on this YT upload, the title refers to Fin Fun, and they're the first to comment that it's not a FF tail. It's a shame they didn't have YT take the video down on the basis of it being misleading and possibly damaging to their name. Or who knows, maybe they tried. YT can be unpredictable about how they handle reports of such things.

Well growing up we always said the way to learn is to throw them in and sink or swim. I guess this mom thought that saying was what you should actually do.. Jk just another sad excuse of a parent who has a lust for 21 seconds of fame.. Smh. Sad just sad.

I just got a Fin Fun monofin a couple months ago and I was trying to dive to the bottom and wound up doing the same thing XD
But I kicked it off and my hubby was nearby to keep me from drowning. It wasn't the fin's fault. It was mine.

If it wasn't so tragic I'd find the title of that video amusing in a sardonic sort of way.
