I've been thinking about this a lot. I'm sure there are many ways to do it. I'm going to start with a stainless steel, aluminum, bronze, or copper chainmaille circlet, depending on the colors needed, and whether or not it will be visible, and build onto that.

You can't attach small clips through the rings, or braid strands of hair around it? What is impossible about it? Even if stainless would be too heavy, anodized aluminum is lighter than plastic, comes in many shiny colors, and is safe in salt and chlorinated water.

Not trying to be rude, but I don't believe in impossible. I figure out the properties of whatever medium it is, and I make it work. I know there are some materials that don't work for mermaiding, but people have tried, and either succeeded or failed. There does seem to be a major prejudice in the community towards certain materials, methods, or even people, without having all the information, experience, research, or variables involved. So many people assume metal (chainmaille) won't work.... But aluminum really does. And divers that swim with sharks wear micromaille suits. Some people NEED a bit of weight to combat their natural buoyancy. Anyway, I have seen YouTube videos where they started with wire, wrapped in the shape of a crown or circlet, glued fabric to the front of the wire base, then added the shells and whatnot to that. My point is, people do it. You just have to figure out what works for you. Not trying to override the thread. Someone else jump in any time. LOL

Ok thanks i was a little concerned about swimming with it but braiding is something i do really well and i didn't think of using the hair itself to hold it in place so thanks a lot you have been really helpful
