Hey everyone! So I was researching what fabric tail skin I should get to go with my Mahina, and I had a hard time finding a good list of compatible tail skins. I also saw that many other monofins can fit inside the tail skins from a variety of companies. So I wanted to compile this list with some of the more popular monofins and all the different tail-skins that can fit each one.

There are several companies that will be able to custom make tails to those monofins, particularly the Mahina which includes Miami Beach mermaids and Aqua tails.

Your list is pretty accurate so far but here's a few more:

Mahina: swimtails pro line
Aquarius: also swim tails
FinFun: Delfina
Linden: FinFun Jr
2tails: I've tested inside my SunTails and it works ok, it's just a tad small so it could potentially fit in a FinFun or Magictail as well

Adding onto the list as well

onceuponamermaid on Etsy. Lori fits her tails TO the Sun Tails monofin. I recently got one from her. She is GREAT to deal with, and will do custom. I took the monofin (itself) to a local pool and I love that thing - what's really cool is you can get replacement 'parts' for the fin - replacement foot pocket is under $20, the fin itself won't wear out...

Nope, as I said in that longer one on my second channel, they are not cross compatible as the FinFun is WAY bigger than the2tails and won't fit.
2tails did work in a SunTails and I'm working on that little video now.

Hey! So I also happen to have the larger Finis Luna and there is quite a big size difference between the finfun monofin and the medium Luna. Mertailor just released their fabric tail skins for their Fantsea Monofins! I’m almost tempted to get a set [emoji848] Also, I may be late to this announcement, but I just saw that Mermaid Linden is releasing an adult version of her body glove monofins! Any ideas of what tailskins will be compatible??

This is the most I ever cut my Mahina. It still flies through the water but it definitely won't fit the Mertailor eco skins.

i just got my new luna adult monofin in today, took it for a spin in my adult finfun dragonfly skin (fits finfun pro and suntails nunui monofins) tail skin, it fits, there is a little stretch in the middle of the fluke as the skin was not cut to be so wide half way down, but the fabric relaxes in the water and there is no damage from the one time use. the bottom of the monofin peeks out about an inch, changing the profile from the sleek fluke to the ribbed wave pattern, but as long as you have a tail that matches the monofin's color scheme it doesn't look bad at all. the heel profile is much more slimmed down from the finfun pro/ suntail heel, the only thing that might stick out as odd in pictures are the ankle buttons for the straps. i don't find myself bothered by it if you take the time to tuck the straps right, it blends the silhouette pretty nicely. i will continue to wear the luna with the dragonfly to see if any inherit problems arise.

I just finished stitching up my old Mertailor Ecotail to fit the newer Fantasea Fin! This used to cover the EcoTail fluke (don’t remember what they recommended pairing it with). It would normally cover the whole fluke- I had to alter it to look like ones that end in a ‘V’ shape- there was not enough fabric to cover the Fantasea Fin fluke. It still turned out really well.
My first tail ever began like this- I bought a Mahina, loved the price/look of the Ecotails. For my first ‘tail’, I opened up the bottom of my Ecotail and just let it flow over the top of my Mahina. I was thinking/wondering IF I could stitch this V shape over the Mahina- but I didn’t want to cut my fluke or tear up my fabric tail I loved so much... fast forward a year...
I recently bought a Fantasea Fin plus 2 ‘V’ fitting skins! I love them! The Fantasea doesn’t need as much fabric at the V point, so I decided to try to finally stitch the old Ecotail to slide into the Fantasea Fin! I just finished a couple days ago! It really looks okay for my hand stitching, and not really being sure of what would work/hold. I cannot wait to take her out swimming on Tues!!! I bought the Ecotail as a set- so, I have the matching leggings & bikini top, I wanted to still use all the matching parts- now I can! I will try to attach my pic of finished job- and if I can get video on Tues I will try to upload it. I just got to the point that wearing an open, floppy fabric tail wasn’t as satisfying as MAYBE I could get it to look like.

I had a feeling, but I wanted to be sure. I like the suntails Aurora tail but I worry about the foot pockets on their fins. The linden has really well designed foot pockets by comparison which is why I was curious. Thank you!!

I like the guppy tails but I'm not overly in love with any of the designs. It's also somewhat out of my price range. I'm thinking I might just get the fin and some leggings instead. At least until I feel comfortable and sure that I want to continue the hobby. I have a bad back so I'm taking baby steps to see if I can handle it.

Definitely a good idea! It’s such a beautiful monofin it doesn’t really even need a skin, most of the time I just take it out by itself :)

It really is! I can't pick between the royal navy or the blue and purple. They're both so gorgeous. I actually found these super cute leggings on Amazon that would match either one. Just have to get a new bathing suit top and I'll be golden!

The fin would more than likely collapse in on itself in one of those tails. It's extremely soft and floppy, not to mention wide. You'd have the tail tips hanging out and such. It wouldn't be ideal.

Yeah after I looked at that green tail after the fin had been in there a while, I took it out and put it in my older orange one and swam in that instead. Worked really well til we were told no more 'fins' are allowed at that pool.

Actually I found a video the mermaid seamstress did on YouTube with her fitting the adult size monofin in a finfun... My new finfun is coming next week and I'll give it a try but if there is no way I'll have to use my spare cheapy till I can get the pro fin mailed in

Hey all! It's been a while, but I have updated my spreadsheet with additional information you guys have included in this thread. I am only including tailskins that you can buy off-the-rack, nothing custom. I am posting them as photos since the layout never worked on mobile. Let me know if I've gotten anything wrong or missed anything!

Reminder: Many of these monofin/tailskin combos are not by the manufacturers' design and, depending on who you talk to, some of these combinations may affect the life of your tailskin or monofin. These spreadsheets are meant to be a guide or a starting point when figuring out what monofin or tailskin to get but you should definitely do your own research and use your own discretion. A lot of this information was gathered from previous posts in this thread, and various mermaids' youtube videos (mostly Nerdmaid Faith (https://www.youtube.com/user/Faithonthebass)), so I would definitely suggest using those resources to make your final decision :)

Mermaidawesome, you should put a mention in there that the Mahina in the Mertailor sling and Finfolk can damage or stretch the fabric so people should research carefully and make sure that is really what they want to do. Just like I can fit my Nunui in my Finfun but it ends up stretching the fabric and could bust a seam.

Yeah, there are a couple like that (the Linden monofin in the FinFun skin is another one) and I'm not exactly sure how to address it. I kind of made this list based on what CAN fit and function and look reasonably good, because obviously many of these tailskin/monofin combos are not by design. The issue is that people disagree about what works and what doesn’t. For example I have read from some people that the Linden monofin won’t work in a FinFun but I’ve also seen videos of it being used in a FinFun and the mermaid really liking it (and I thought it looked good too). Sooo it’s not really that cut and dry to me. My motivation for creating this list originally was to figure out what combinations could work and not just combinations that are perfect fits. I get what you guys are saying though. I did add a message in my post acknowledging that some combinations may affect the tail and/or monofin and that people should use discretion when mixing and matching.

The Mirage Rubber Mermaid Monofin will fit into adult Sun Tail, Magictail and Fin Fun skins. It goes up to Ladies size 6 shoe.

Are you asking if the Keiki will fit into the adult suntails and finfun tailskins? I happen to have both of these and I can happily try in in both my suntails and finfun skins to show you what it looks like if you would like?

Here’s some pics of the keiki fin with the size adult large suntails Bali blush and the finfun blue tang tails and how they look with the fin on top and inside the skins. Last pic is the size comparison between the keiki and nunui monofins by suntails.
Conclusion- it fits loosely with room to spare
But the finfun has a better (snugger) fit.

I ordered the nunui in the meantime but since it's - well - almost perfect fitting, to see I can use the Keiki with more different tails, I will reorder a Keiki with a FinFan Tail <3 - Edit: Someday at least! ;-) We all need different ones from time to time :-)

Nope. Not in any of the premade tails. I know, I did try when I had a Finis Wave. I even cut it to fit into a Fin Fun but lost so much propulsion, you're better off making your own tail for it, or finding someone that does custom fabric tails.

I just wanted to add one that fits the luna, the mertailor guppy! It looks fantastic in the guppy, I mean it has the silicone flop of the luna and the look of a mertailor tail, that combo is basically the whimsy tails at a fraction of the 500 dollar price tag. (A little bit smaller, too, but if you've ever seen an original fantasea compared to the puna it's really not that far off)

ITS SHORTER! so if you can fit the mahina in these slings, you can ABSOLUTELY fit a Fantasea Fin Too! :)

I just wanted to give a heads-up to anyone else who uses a Luna monofin in the extra small guppy skin that I did have the zipper on my skin break shortly after I started using the Luna in it. I think the monofin was a bit too wide and was putting too much pressure on the zipper, possibly. I'm not sure if this happens with all sizes or if it's just because I have the extra small, but I wanted to put it out there.

It's too bad, because I really liked them together, but I'm going to have to switch to a FinFun skin with it for now

it is true! Howewver, Shop Vancouver Mermaid can make tails custom to fit it! As well, you can wedge it inside pretty much any "finfun shaped" tail, with a wit of risk of overstretching the fabric.

Has anyone tested the Lucia monofin in a Mertailor Fantasea 3 tail skin? I've been watching all the review videos I can find, trying to figure out how the dimensions compare, but I can't find any direct comparisons. I think that the Lucia monofin will be too long when measuring from heels to where the fin splits, and maybe also too narrow at the tips to fill out the Mertailor fluke, but it would be amazing if anyone has photos of the two monofins directly compared, or has tested the combination out and could let me know.

Hey does anyone have any photos of the mermaid linden mono fin in a fin fun mermaid tail skin because yes I know there is a risk of the tail getting stretched out and not being able to accept the fin fun monofin anymore but I am perfectly fine with that just as long as it won't destroy the skin in the long run like how big of a risk is it is it a very small risk or is it a very big risk

Hi! I see this thread hasn't gotten any attention in nearly a year, but this looked like the best place to ask my question.
Can I use a linden monofin in a mertailor fantasea tail?
I know that mertailor has a line specific for the linden monofin, but the design/colorway that I want isn't available as a guppy tail; instead it's listed as a fantasea tail, which is designed for the ff1 monofin. I really don't want to get a full silicone monofin like the ff1, so I'm looking for alternatives. Will a linden work? Or maybe one from finis? If not, what will? (I did find a YouTube video from MermaidZelda that tests several alternatives too, but she didn't try a linden, or finis for that matter.)
