Hello fellow merfolk, I'm very new to the waters but loved mermaids since I. Was a kid and would draw them all the time when I was younger. Now as a young adult I'm looking to make my own tail and I'm hoping to get some advice from fellow senior merfolk. I'm 20 now and hoping to finally live my childhood dreams of being a mermaid. I'm in the preliminary stages of design and creating my "mersona". Below are the sketches and notes I've done so far and I'm hoping to receive some constructive feedback from you all if it's not too much.
I'm trying to go for a somewhat realistic approach to my design working in natural tones that could help, biologically speaking, match my local waters here in Southern California (LA county) or my Caribbean heritage.

Thank you all in advance!!!

Looks pretty so far! What colors are you going to use?

Thank you! As for colors I'm not really sure yet I'm still exploring. I'm trying to go for a natural look since I live on the west cost or use inspiration from the waters of the Caribbean where I'm from. So I'm in this dilemma of putting too much science and biology into my design.
