airbrush vs a paint gun, how do they compare?

I want to get an airbrush for spray painting silicone tails, however I also see people talk about a paint gun. There are 2 kinds I think, one that is operated with a compressor and an electric one but I'm not quite sure yet. What would be better to get?

I'm curious if an airbrush can cover a large enough space to colour an entire tail too, however I read a paint gun can't really do details. I'd really like to read about preferences xd

It would take ages to paint the main color with an airbrush. What I've seen used the most is a touch up gun. The airbrush is great for adding details. I would recommend getting both. As for the air compressor I'd recommend getting at least a contractors "pancake tank" compressor. They have built in air pressure regulator and have plenty air for the airbrush. I've never tried to run a touch up gun with one but I think it might have enough cfm's to keep up. When it comes to pneumatic equipment the key is how much airflow the compressor will make, otherwise your left waiting for the compressor to pump up.
